http://www.georgiamusic.org Location: Georgia Music Hall of Fame, 200 MLK Jr. Blvd in Downtown Macon Phone: 478-751-3334 Kick off the Independence Day holiday with a concert by the 116th U.S. Army National Guard Band at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. The performances are free to the public and will be held outdoors in the front patio area. Free cold beverages will be served.
 12 noon - 1 p.m. Performance The 116th’s Concert Band will perform patriotic and traditional favorites and guests are invited to bring their lunches.
7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Performance The 116th’s Funk Band will play soul, funk and R&B favorites outdoors as a special First Friday show.
The Georgia Music Hall of Fame will have hundreds of various postcards on hand for visitors to sign and express their thanks to our soldiers serving overseas. All postcards will be shipped and mailed to National Guardsman Major Mike Lipper of the 48th Brigade, who will distribute them in Afghanistan.

Hawkins will share his Revolutionary War experiences and a dramatic

Jim McGuire has been the preeminent photographer in Nashville, Tenn.,
for more than 30 years - as renowned for his love of music, musicians,
wry wit and 1957 Ford Station wagon as he is for his skill with a
camera.
Inspired by photographer Irving Penn's portraits of tradesmen
in their work clothes, he began what has become his acclaimed series of Nashville Portraits in 1974.
The series now includes more than 1,000
images of America's most influential singers, songwriters and
musicians.
The exhibition, as well as the accompanying book, Jim
McGuire: Nashville Portraits, features 60 of the best photographs,
including Georgia musicians Tut Taylor, Norman and Nancy Blake and
Georgia Music Hall of Fame inductee Chet Atkins. Organized by the
Morris Museum of Art, Augusta, Georgia.

Pieces of Josh Simpson’s work can be found in the permanent collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Art, the White House Collection of American Crafts, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and the Museum of Arts and Sciences. A Visionary Journey in Glass (1972-2007) opened in Huntsville, Alabama in April, 2007 and the exhibit has been traveling the country since. Josh Simpson’s career in art glass spans more than three decades.
Simpson’s extraordinary pieces include goblets, vases and bowls, and complex orbs he calls “planets.” Much of Simpson’s work is inspired by NASA images of Earth and other celestial phenomena.

exhibition will feature a selection of works from the ambitious History
of the Dream Project. In 2001, the Tubman Museum commissioned artist
Wini McQueen to create textile panels to be installed in the atrium of
the new Tubman Museum facility in downtown Macon. The finished
commissioned work, consisting of 130 works of art, is entitled "The History
of the Dream." It chronicles the history of the Tubman Museum,as well as significant people, events and memories from Macon and Middle Georgia community.

River beginning at Amerson Water Works Park and ending at the Spring
Street parking lot and trailhead of the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. Half-Day Tours are extended trips lasting from 4 to 6 hours. These
expeditions give you a real feel for the full beauty of the Ocmulgee
River with shoals, shallows and differing riverscapes. Half-Day Tours
begin at Amerson Water Works Park, then you’re shuttled north
approximately 9 miles to Popes Ferry Landing to start your journey. The
float takes you back to your car at Amerson Water Works Park.

every level, working in any medium and genre.
 MaGa submissions will be considered for competition in one of the following categories:
- Narrative Feature
- Narrative Short
- Animation
- Documentary
- Experimental
- Student Film

The Macon Film Festival offers
innovative and imaginative films both mainstream and independent in
nature, celebrating
the art and craft of the moving image and giving light to films which
rarely appear in Central Georgia, particularly those that are independent,

across the U.S. and as far away as Israel, France, the United Kingdom,
Poland,
Canada and Australia will be showcased at the extraordinary venues of
Cox Capitol Theatre, Douglass Theatre and Grand Opera House.
