Ocmulgee National Monument
Step back in time and enjoy the beauty of Ocmulgee with one of the many activities offered: - Stroll to the continents only Earthlodge and Early Mississippian temple mounds - View downtown Macon from the top of the Great Temple Mound - Immerse yourself in a wetlands environment by taking a walk on our boardwalk - Walk back in time through the wilderness of the Ocmulgee River floodplain on the River Trail - Bicycle on the park road - Contemplate Georgia's "Fall Line" environment along Walnut Creek - Visit the site of the only two Civil War Battles fought in Macon - Picnic on the grounds at shade covered picnic tables - Browse the museum -The gift shop includes pottery replicas, Native American inspired jewelry, fresh clay for crafts and a great selection of books on the Native American history of Middle Georgia.
