Macon, Georgia - The United States Tennis Association (USTA) will host the 2011 Southern Mixed Doubles Section Championship on Oct. 14-16, 2011. The John Drew Tennis Center will serve as the tournament headquarters, and daily matches will begin at 8:00 a.m. Matches will also be played at Tattnall Tennis Center, Healy Point Country Club and Idle Hour Country Club. This is the first year Macon has hosted the USTA League Tennis Southern Sectional Mixed Doubles Championships.

Over 1,000 USTA League Tennis Mixed Doubles tennis players in adult and senior levels from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee will compete in the upcoming tournament. Each team has won in their respective division at the state level and represents over 43,000 mixed doubles players in the South. The nine champion teams from this tournament will advance to the USTA League Mixed National Championship in Tucson, Ariz.

USTA League Tennis is the world's largest recreational tennis league with over 300,000 players nationwide and over 100,000 adult, senior and mixed doubles players in the Southern Section alone. The program is open to women and men 19 years and older. Players from over 100 cities in the nine southern states experience the camaraderie and competition as play progresses through local, area and sectional competition and culminates in a national championship in each skill level.
