Macon, Georgia-The Georgia chapter of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) will hold their 85th state convention, April 25th-27th 2013 at the Macon Centreplex. The conference theme is "Grow" with more than 5,000 attendees expected. The conference will consist of a career show, awards presentations, concert, tradeshows, and guest speakers. Students will also participate in community service projects and various competitions in career development and prepared public speaking.
Ben Lastly, State Executive Secretary, said "Macon is a great host city. This will be our seventh year in Macon and we look forward to our meeting. There will be amazing events and I believe this will be the most memorable State FFA Convention in history."
As part of the convention activities, FFA attendees will participate in three community service projects. FFA members will collect canned food, Thursday, April 25th, for the Harvest for America Food Drive and volunteer at the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. Attendees will also participate in the Rebuilding Macon House Painting Project where they will paint three houses in the neighborhood surrounding the Macon Centreplex
The Georgia FFA Association was founded in 1929 and brings together students, teachers and agribusiness to solidify support for agricultural education.
