Macon, GA - It's a tradition as popular as a turkey feast for football lovers watching their game after Thanksgiving. The Central Georgia Football Association has created a tradition of its own at the Macon-Bibb County Department of Parks and Recreation Softball Complex in Central City Park in welcoming youth football players across the Southeast for the three-day weekend following the Thanksgiving holiday.

Over 80 teams are expected to participate in the tournament this year on Friday, November 26th through Sunday, November 28th with attendance swelling to 8000 people, which is 2000 more than prior year.

According to Convention Sales Manager, Pammie Jimmar, of the Macon-Bibb Convention and Visitors Bureau, a conservative estimate of the Youth Football Classic group's expenditures in Macon reach over $130,000. Central Georgia Football Association Vice-President, Keith Holmes, figures that revenue number might be a little higher due to a typical football mother's holiday shopping plan on Black Friday at Macon's retail stores. According to Holmes, "It is a site to see the many fathers signing the players up for registration on Friday morning and watching the mothers trickle in from their shopping assignments before the first game begins at noon."

Middle Georgians are invited to attend the games and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a snack. Tickets can be purchased at the gate.
