My daughter (Taylor) and I had the pleasure of staying at Macon, Georgia’s Burke Mansion. This distinctive boutique style bed and breakfast is a historic treasure (listed on the National Historic Register) in the heart of Macon. Pino and Don, Burke Mansion’s owners, have decorated this home with the most exquisite pieces of art, furniture, and decor that I have ever seen. Their attention to detail, high level of hospitality, and luxury comforts make this much more than an average B&B it falls in the ultimate category. After touring Macon’s popular historic homes, none of them measured up to the Burke Mansion, and every guest I spoke to with agreed. The Burke Mansion macon
A True Leader of Ultimate Hospitality
Don and Pino model their 1887 built boutique style bed and breakfast after the Ritz Carlton’s method of serving guests. Anything you could ever have wanted in a hotel stay was available at your fingertips and they did everything to make Taylor and I feel pampered, welcome, and part of the family.
There is no visible sign for the Burke Mansion, so Taylor and I circled the block a few times before we pulled into the small drive way and went inside. Don greeted us and began the check-in process. He went through the ins and outs of the mansion and provided us with a lovely old-fashioned brass key and menu tickets to order our breakfast. It took us a while to get to our room as we kept stopping to admire the home’s beautiful furnishings. The Burke Mansion macon
The Burke Mansion’s Marianna and Mae Suite
Our room, the Marianna and Mae Suite, was on the second floor. A very old, cage-like elevator was available to take our belongings upstairs but we managed on our own. Inside, the high ceilings allowed for ceiling to floor closets that I would kill for at my own home. A gorgeous painted Chinese screen stood behind the bed, making the stark white down comforter, red blanket, and throw pillow “pop”. Both nightstands and the desk at the foot of the bed provided lamps for adequate lighting. A flat screen TV, with every channel imaginable, hung on the wall beside of the bed. Two chairs, sitting near the windows, provided a great work area for me.
The Marianna and Mae Suite had a darling brick fireplace that really anchored the room. It, too, was decorated with antiques, modern comforts, and interesting wall hangings; I immediately felt right at home.
The bathroom was on the small side, but the colorful stained glass window and rainfall shower head with glass door shower enclosure made up for the size. The Burke Mansion

The Best Part of the Burke Mansion: Breakfast
Although the Burke Mansion is beautiful, comfy, hospitable, and historic, the most attractive factor, for me, was their phenomenal breakfast. The night before, guests fill out their breakfast tickets and give them to Don. You have the option of eating breakfast in the dining room or in your room at whatever time you choose.
Our breakfast consisted of such goodies such as fresh fruit, French Toast, eggs, Applewood bacon, and biscuits with fancy jams. Everything that we were served was delicious. Taylor and I looked most forward to breakfast each morning. Having stayed at a few bed and breakfasts, the Burke Mansion is ahead of the game by leaps and bounds with their spot on service.
The dining room is exquisite. Precious art hangs on the walls while treasures fill the room. I could have spent days admiring Don and Pino’s collection of china, books, silver, and paintings. Huge, round tables set the scene for breakfast with the most comfortable chairs and Wedgewood china. The Burke Mansion breakfast
