MACON, Ga. -- The Netflix film directed by Ron Howard continues to film in Macon after beginning on Monday. "Hillbilly Elegy" is set to film here until next Monday.

Oscar nominee actress Amy Adams has been seen at downtown Macon restaurants, while WGXA even spotted Howard on set this morning.

"Anytime there's a production here in town -- whether it's television or film -- we have a really good opportunity as a community to see a financial boost," said Aaron Buzza, VP of development of Visit Macon. "Because we have cast and crew and it's dozens of people -- in some cases more than a 100 people, depending on the size of production -- so they're staying in hotels. When their day is done, they're doing what the rest of us might do -- going out having a bite to eat, getting a drink, seeing a movie perhaps."

With the filming comes altered traffic and closed streets.

Macon-Bibb said on Wednesday that film crews are working in locations on US 80/Georgia 11/Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Downtown Macon this week.

As a result, on Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., motorists should expect intermittent closures on US 80/Georgia 11/Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard from Pine Street Lane to Plum Street Lane.

Intermittent closures are also scheduled on that same roadway from Poplar Street Lane to Cherry Street Lane through next Monday.

Deputies will be on scene working to keep traffic flowing.

"Some people do get frustrated and that's understandable because they're trying to get places and do what they need to do," Bibb County Sheriff's Capt. Randy Gonzalez said. "But for the most part, most people are very cooperative and they understand. Once you kind of talk to them about what's going on, they're very understandable."
