The new Clint Eastwood movie, filmed partially in Macon, opens in three weeks, and the agency that promotes tourism in town is having a photo contest to celebrate the occasion.
The Macon-Bibb County Convention & Visitors Bureau started the Instagram Photo Challenge this week. The bureau is asking those who’d like to participate to take creative photos of at least two of four sites where “Trouble with the Curve” scenes were filmed: Luther Williams Field, Nu-Way Weiners, Ingleside Village Pizza and Lane Southern Orchards.
Instagram is a free photo-sharing program started about two years ago. The service lets users take a picture, apply a digital filter to it and then share it with other Instagram users.
Valerie Bradley, the bureau’s communications manager, emphasized one particular word when describing how the contest works.
“We’re looking for the most creative pictures -- going beyond someone standing in front of a sign,” she said. “We’d like to see some creativity with it.”
Pictures might include props or other inventive touches, she said.
Pictures should be uploaded to the convention bureau’s Facebook page. Three winners will be selected and will receive complimentary movie passes and a meal for two at Nu-Way. The challenge is open to all residents 18 and older.
The contest ends at midnight Sept. 14. Judging will be held in the days to follow, and the winners will be announced on Facebook and Twitter the week of Sept. 21.
“We’re excited and can’t wait to see what people submit,” Bradley said.
