Macon CVB Announces Bike Share Program

The Macon-Bibb County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced the launch of the Macon Bike Share Program on Thursday at the Washington Memorial Library.

“The library’s central goal is to connect people to information and resources to improve their lives,” said Jennifer Lautzenheiser, the director of the Middle Georgia Regional Library System. “So with the bikes, that’s just one more way we can do that. We can connect them with their community.”

The program allows anyone at least 16 years of age to rent bikes from the Washington Memorial Library, Tubman Museum and Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. The bikes are for on-demand, local trips and are free for the first hour of use. Any additional hour is $3 dollars.

“Library card holders are going places, and now they can go places in more ways than one,” added Lautzenheiser.
