Macon, GA- The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) will host its 2015 Team Traditional Wrestling Championships at the Macon Centreplex, February 12-14,2015. The tournament will begin Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. and conclude with the championship finals on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The Georgia High School Association has hosted the Georgia Traditional Wrestling tournament in Macon since 2004. More than 1300 of the top individual wrestlers representing 280 high schools from across the state have qualified for this year's event. Denis Tallini, Associate Director of the Georgia High School Association, stated, "This tournament brings together not only the best wrestlers in Georgia but several nationally-ranked wrestlers as well."
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $7 on Thursday, $10 each for Friday and Saturday, and $24 for a three-day pass. More tournament information, including a schedule, may be found on the wrestling page of the GHSA website http://www.ghsa.net/.
The mission of the GHSA is to promote education in Georgia from a mental, physical, and moral viewpoint, and to standardize and encourage participation in athletics. GHSA encourages sportsmanship and an appreciation for and study of music, speech, and other fine arts through Region and State competitions.
