MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Get your appetites and taste buds ready. Macon’s Second Annual Burger Week starts Monday and ends on September 22nd.
Will Ocmulgee Brew Pub keep the “Best Burger” title? Or will one of the 18 other restaurants win?
Restaurants get ready. Start your grills.
Last year, 15 restaurants competed. This year’s competition grew to 19 restaurants wanting to win ‘street cred’ and “best burger” bragging rights.
Tommy’s Cafe and Bakery owner Tommy Sadler is a returning competitor.

“It’s not about making a lot of money, hardly make any money off that burger at all, but it’s an advertising tool,” he said.
Last year, he says sold nearly 800 burgers in three hours one day.
“Last year they were lined up out the door around the corner to get in here,” Sadler said.
Tommy’s cooking up a loose-meat burger with a homemade cheese sauce and of course a donut bun.
Burger Week rookie, Decadent Dessert Bar, is bringing something sweet to the table.
“Our dessert burger is two snicker doodle cookies sandwiching a brownie and has green and red icing to mimic the lettuce and tomato,” Decadent Dessert Bar baker Bella Hodges said.
Win or lose, Chandler Price with Visit Macon says the real winner here is the customer – coming together with the rest of the community having fun.
“People are sharing it all over Facebook. It brings people here locally and also from surrounding cities, so it just brings people to downtown that might not necessarily get here very often,” Price said.
You can get your Burger Week passports at Macon Beer Company, Visit Macon, or any participating restaurant.
