Macon, Georgia- Xtreme Events LLC will host the 5K Barbarian Challenge on Saturday April 14, 2012. The challenge begins at 8 a.m. and will take place at Paradise Off Road Park, 1276 Sgoda Rd, Macon, Georgia 31217. Musical entertainment will start at 10 a.m. with the award ceremony at 11:30 a.m.
The Barbarian Challenge isn't your grandmother's 5k race. It is for thrill seeking athletes who aren't afraid to try something new. This extreme race is ideal for hardcore outdoor enthusiasts, moms, dads, granddads, grandmas-just about everyone. Participants should expect challenging natural and man made obstacles that will test their inner warrior.
Some of the obstacles include a 50 foot mud slide, 15 foot vertical earthen embankment climb, 18 foot ravine log cross, and a possible surprise or two. Scott Cochran, Barbarian Challenge Race Director, states, "If you are tired of the same old 5k runs, this is the race for you. This race is medieval mayhem meets 21st century athlete."
Registration is $55 per person with registration ending April 9th. There is no charge for spectators. Participants will receive a Barbarian T-shirt, Barbarian National Flag, finisher's medal and free beer. The overall male and female winners will also receive an authentic replica of Conan the Barbarian's sword.
