Watching soldiers just returning from war reunite with their families has been known to cause stirring emotional responses in onlookers sharing in the moment. What the onlookers don’t see are the possible difficult stages of readjustment that the soldier and family may experience in the following days, months, and perhaps, years.

There are reintegration programs in place to assist soldiers and families in reestablishing bonds to each other and society. The 48th Brigade will be participating in the Yellow Ribbon & Strong Bonds program this weekend beginning Friday, August 13 at the Macon Centreplex Coliseum and Convention Center with the Macon Marriott City Center hotel serving as accommodation host.

Almost 600 people, including soldiers and family members, are planning to attend the three-day sessions, with 760 room nights booked in local hotels. Attendees are expected to generate $159,700 in local expenditures throughout the weekend.

There are sessions for married and single soldiers and families with schedules beginning at 8:00 am and ending at 5:00 pm.
