June marks the beginning of African American Music Appreciation month, originally proclaimed Black Music Month by President Jimmy Carter on June 7, 1979 and later given its’ current name by former President Barack Obama in his 2016 proclamation. Macon has earned the nickname, “The Festival Capital of Georgia” and for good reasons. This Southern city’s events scene begins to bloom each spring, along with its 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees—it’s the cherry blossom capital of the world — and the fun continues all year long.

Once a year, Macon's landscape turns pink as 300,000 Yoshino cherry trees blossom around the city. To celebrate these gorgeous trees, Macon holds the International Cherry Blossom Festival . Happening March 16 - 25, here are the top events for this year's festival.
