The film industry in Macon is flourishing. If you are a movie lover, plan the perfect getaway to spend the weekend in Macon for the 2018 Macon Film Festival, August 16-19. This fun-filled festival will not only showcase independent indie films, but will also feature immersive films, celebrity guests, after parties, and more. For the very first time, you will get a chance to experience interactive virtual reality film shorts and movies in a fulldome at the Museum of Arts and Sciences. Film genres include narratives, documentaries, student shorts, LGBT, music shorts, workshops, Georgia made films and special screenings.

Enjoy the Opening Night Party on Thurs., Aug. 16 at the Museum of Arts and Sciences. There will be refreshments, light bites, and a fulldome film viewing of M.O.D.E, a special screening with a live immersive musical experience of abstract landscapes, challenges, and perceptions of the horizon.

There will be several films playing throughout the weekend, ranging from narrative features, short films, virtual reality, and more. The festival also includes workshops for filmmakers. Sean Caruso, video project manager at the Society for Arts and Technology in Montreal, is hosting a workshop at the Museum of Arts and Sciences about the fundamentals of immersion in relation to the fulldome medium.
