Middle Georgia will be peppered in orange and black this weekend. Mercer University’s 2015 Homecoming festivities are underway and there are plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy. Beginning at 10am today, Mercer will sponsor a series of alumni speaking engagements on a variety of topics centered around how Mercer has influenced their post graduate life. From 7:30-9:30 tonight, head over to Fickling Hall for an enthralling performance from the Mercer Percussion Ensemble. If music is not your style, cheer on our Women’s Soccer team as they play Wofford at 7pm on Bear Field.
Saturday is game day! Mercer Football takes on a SOCON rival, VMI. The game will start at 3pm in Five Star Stadium, but the tailgating begins as soon as you set up your tent, grill, or cornhole boards in Cruz Plaza along the Bear Walk. The students and instructors from Mercer’s Townsend School of Music will be performing a Homecoming Kaleidoscope Concert in Fickling Hall at 11am to get everyone in the mood for game day.
There is no need to end your weekend after the big game. You still have the chance to cheer for the Bears as the Women’s Soccer team takes on Furman at 2pm on Bear Field. Campus will be buzzing with activities centered on Macon Octoberfest. Tattnall Square Park will be filled with the sweet sounds of acoustic music as a variety of artists share the stage with all of Macon from 12:30-5pm. No matter what you like to do for fun, there is something for everyone to get dressed up and cheer on the Bears.
