Dog Days Of Downtown

This year, don't leave your furry friend at home during the International Cherry Blossom Festival because there are several events that will have your pup's tail wagging all day long!

Starting on March 19, you can catch The Wiener Dog Race from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Expect to see the dachshund's small legs moving at speeds you've never seen before as they all race down Cherry Street in the hopes of being recognized as the fastest!

Then head to the Ultimate Air Dogs Dock Diving Competition which will host qualifying rounds on Second Street starting at 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Dogs will soar through the air as they compete for the longest dive. If you miss the first day, the competition will continue on March 20 at noon and end with finals at 4:00 p.m. Even if your pet is not entered in the competition, you can pay to have them try out a practice splash. Maybe your pooch has a hidden talent!

If you and your fluffy companion need a break, Barks and Brews on Riverside Drive will host "The Pinkest Puppy Party" from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on March 19. There will be a fun costume contest in the categories of Prettiest in Pink, Owner/Pet Lookalike, and Most Creative. Plus, the off-leash dog park and bar will have Cherry Blossom Festival specials such as pink beer, a pink runway, a pink fountain, and more.

There's no need to hire a dog-sitter this year, instead grab a leash and prepare to "em-Bark" on a fantastic day of pet-friendly activities with your best friend.
