"Mama Louise" Hudson, one of Macon's culinary legends, is featured on the cover of the 2015 Georgia Travel Guide as a celebrated Georgia chef. This year's guide is all about food and the many ways you can enjoy amazing culinary experiences throughout Georgia.

H &H Soul Food Restaurant, open since 1959, is the perfect example of what good cooking is all about. Known for its collard greens, black-eyed peas, and fried chicken, Mama Louise has been feeding Macon for decades. She didn't know it then, but in 1965 she served a group of poor, struggling bandmates at no charge. The group went on to become the Southern Rock group known as The Allman Brothers Band.

In her eighties, Mama Louise doesn't do the cooking anymore, but she still comes into the restaurant every day to make sure it's done right. Why, you ask? To make sure every person who comes through the H&H doors leaves with a full stomach and their own Macon culinary experience.
