Whether you are heading to Dublin or Savannah for St. Patrick's Day, Macon is a great stop to celebrate the holiday, especially with the International Cherry Blossom Festival falling only one day later this year. Macon soon will become "The Pinkest City on Earth", but there are still some local businesses that are changing it up on Thursday by adding St. Patrick's Day green and Irish-inspired themes to their menus, drinks, and live music.

St. Patrick's Day Events

Kudzu Seafood Company's rooftop bar will have a day of live music with hand-crafted Irish cocktails and Terrapin beer on tap starting at 5:00 p.m. If you're looking for a dinner plan with a view, then head to Poplar Street to check out the Gulf Coast-style seafood and the music of Watt Knottz.

Bearfoot Tavern is adding new delicious food to their menu for St. Patrick's Day. Try out their Shepard's Pie, Jameson Glazed Wings, or Corned Beef and Cabbage for a taste of traditional Irish-inspired dishes. The gastropub also offers a large beer selection on tap.

Maybe you're looking for a nice outdoor venue to celebrate the beautiful weather that signals Spring is only days away. The Society Garden has a kitchen operated by Satterfield's BBQ and their menu will give homage to Ireland's roots with meals such as Guinness Braised Brisket Philly and Bangers and Mash. The beer garden will also have lively Irish music that will make you bust out a jig at their outdoor stage. They aren't stopping there! Did I mention green beer? Society Garden also offers an area that is kid-friendly with a slide and sandbox. All the festivities begin at 5:00 p.m.

If you're staying at one of our many accommodating hotels for the night and want to keep the party going, The Hummingbird Stage and Taproom will offer drink specials for the holiday and also a live performance from Southbound Mojo. The specials will start at 4:00 p.m. and last until close around 2:00 a.m.

Shopping

Macon is a hub of not only eateries but locally run shops and chain stores. If you need a last-minute outfit try out a local boutique such as Frankie's located downtown or you can take a short drive to  The Shoppes At River Crossing for a diverse selection that will assure you are decked out in all shades of green.

Drinks

St Patrick's Day tradition may require an adult beverage, or two, and Macon's many breweries can all be found downtown. This includes Macon Beer Company Taproom And Kitchen, Ocmulgee Brewpub, Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen and Fall Line Brewing Company. Just Tap'd also has 64 fresh, craft beers on tap that include IPAs, Stouts, Goses, Sours, Ciders, and many more. All of these locations have a kitchen to grab a bite to eat as well.

Hotels

The drive home after a long day of festivities can be tedious and with Macon centrally located in the state, there are plenty of hotel options to lighten the load of your travels. Newly opened, Hotel Forty-Five has a roof-top bar overlooking downtown Macon,a signature chef-driven restaurant, and a wine and coffee bar, all located within the luxurious hotel found on the 45-degree angle made by Cherry and First Streets and with Cotton Avenue. Several hotels waiting for you to book them are located along I-75 including Comfort Inn and Suites, Wingate By Wyndham, and The LaQuinta Inn and Suites.

Whatever your plans are this year for St. Patrick's Day, stopping in Macon can ultimately ease a long car ride and you may find your new favorite restaurant, brewery, or shop just by spending a short time in the city. Don't forget the 10-day 40th International Cherry Blossom Festival starts on March 18 through March 27 and this is one event you do not want to miss! Over 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees will bloom around Macon's neighborhoods, Carolyn Crayton Park, and downtown.
