Raised in small town central Texas and based in Nashville, Tennessee, Joelton Mayfield crafts hard-hitting alt-country that’s at home in dive bars and DIY venues alike. Mayfield’s distinct take on the genre blends Wilco-esque musicality with the dynamics and melodic edge of second-wave emo to create a sound all his own. This musical innovation underscores Mayfield’s deft lyricism, which draws a Southern Gothic literary sensibility and deals intimately with the tensions embedded in family, religion, masculinity, and love in the American South. Mayfield is currently working on a follow up to his 2019 debut release, I Hope You Make It.
100 Watt Horse is a folk and country infused garage-pop outfit founded in Atlanta around about 2012 and currently based in sunny Tallahassee, FL. Headed up by writer and multi-instrumentalist George Pettis joined by producer Graham Tavel, the project has had myriad lineups and taken many forms since its inception. For the last decade, 100 Watt Horse has released two full length LPs, a live album, and three EPs while touring extensively all around the U.S and Europe. At the moment, George is touring as a solo act and is busy in the studio with Graham recording a follow-up to 2020’s Dog is Goob full length (released via Philly-based Sleeper Records). With influences ranging from Elliot Smith to Arthur Russell to Brandi Carlile, Pettis writes emotionally charged melody-driven songs that are equally at home in a living room and a smoky dive bar. -
