Bragg Jam, with support from McDuffie Center for Strings, is excited to host internationally renowned violinist Robert McDuffie, and R.E.M.’s Mike Mills back in their hometown of Macon, GA, as part of their rock concerto East Coast tour.

Concerto for Violin, Rock Band and String Orchestra, Composed by R.E.M.’s Mike Mills for Robert McDuffie, Featuring Fifth House Ensemble will be held at the Macon City Auditorium on October 27th, 2016 at 8:00 PM.

Robert McDuffie is a Grammy-nominated violinist whose beautiful sound will transport you back in time. His collaboration with Mike Mills will make that time 1987 as the Athens, GA based alternative rock band, R.E.M., gained traction in the music world. Mike Mills, known for his melodic baselines and backing vocals, wrote this concerto in order to blend the two very different, but very unique sounds of a string orchestra and southern rock.

The concerto, with arrangements and additional music by David Mallamud, will feature McDuffie, performing the solo violin part, a four-member rock band, led by composer, Mills (bass and keyboard) along with two electric guitarists, and a drummer, who will perform with a string orchestra.
