On Monday, November 11 Middle Georgia residents will get a chance to see a rare transit of Mercury as it moves across the face of the Sun. (Weather permitting.) Learn to safely observe this daytime celestial event. This program will also look at the nature the planet Mercury. Free Sun Observing Safety Glasses will be given to participants. Weather permitting, SAFE telescopic observations of the transit of Mercury will take place on Monday, November 11 at Coleman Hill from 7:36 am to 1:04 pm. Philip Groce, President, Helping Planetariums Succeed, is a planetarium design consultant who has participated as a member of the design, engineering and project management team of more than 50 new and renovated planetariums around the US, including Macon’s own planetarium at the Museum of Arts & Sciences. Currently, he is consulting on planetarium projects in California and Iceland.
