Tubman Museum

Take a soulful journey through time, from Africa to America at the Tubman Museum, the largest facility in the southeast devoted solely to African American art, history and culture. See colorful exhibits on Harriet Tubman, African American Inventors, Georgia artists, and the incredible story of William & Ellen Craft. The exhibits change quarterly so there is always something new to discover.


Macon Arts Alliance and Gallery

Located in historic downtown, this rotating gallery exhibits and sells original artwork created and designed by local artists. Find one-of-a-kind sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, pottery and fine paintings


Dinner at Dovetail

Dovetail is the area’s first Farm-to-Table restaurant, featuring entrees and desserts from local farms. Entrees change seasonally to offer the freshest ingredients.

Art Class at the 567 Center for Renewal

The 567 Center for Renewal is a community space for entrepreneurs, artists, and musicians who will bring a collaboratively creative life to downtown Macon and surrounding areas through events, classes, and business development. We have art classes for kids through adults, and most of our classes are designed with beginners and novices in mind. Join us for a fun night out creating art! All of our adult classes are BYOB.

Day 2: Morning

Riverside Cemetery

Founded in 1887, this is a historically-significant rural garden cemetery designed by Calvert Vaux, co-designer of Central Park in NYC.  Stroll through the beautiful landscape and see sights such as a Civil War Earthwork. Get a glimpse of the past and learn about historic figures in Macon’s history.

Middle Georgia Art Association

MGAA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the visual arts. The gallery displays member works and sponsors several exhibits of non-member artists whose work merits community support. Art is available and for sale.

Kirk West Gallery

Kirk West has spent 30 years of his life touring with the world famous Allman Brothers Band. Before that he spent 20 years of his life chasing that special moment in bars, venues, and concert halls all across the country. Whether it was shooting Kenny Rodgers’ entrance into the fashion world with his own designer label or making the royalty of the rock and roll world feel at home at The Beacon Theater there is always a story involved.

Explore the Historic Downtown Macon and grab a bite at one of our many local eateries. No matter what you’re in the mood for Macon has a place to satisfy your cravings. We have everything from our famous Soul Food to Greek Cuisine, Mexican influence to American Hamburgers.
