This story dates back 17,000 years to the Native Americans on the Ocmulgee Indian Mounds – a people and a place still revered today – and the deeply-rooted African American heritage, which only grows stronger with time.

When the Civil War started, Macon was one of the few places Sherman spared on his fiery “March to the Sea,” leaving behind the antebellum homes and architecture that give Macon that extra splash of southern charm.
