Experience Macon's music past, present, and future

Macon’s a music town, fertile ground for hit makers since the 1950s. The names are all iconic. Otis. The Allman Brothers Band. Little Richard. Their hits, ear worms that ring out from speakers all across the universe, connecting us, entertaining us, and inspiring us. People know the names but oftentimes they don’t know the place. They don’t know how Macon helped shape these musicians from local talent to international legend.

And just as Macon influenced the music of these stars, they made a mark on our city leaving behind a host of historic attractions that visitors still frequent. From graveyards to meat and threes, stages to statues, our city is a living history of their music.

To celebrate them, we looked beyond our city to find musicians who have been influenced by their music, but couldn’t tell Macon from a mountain on a map. We brought these talented artists here to experience what their favorite artists experienced, to play the same stages, eat the same food, walk the same paths that were so instrumental to their songs.

This is the Macon Music Effect, and it’s a tune we’ll never stop singing.
