Macon, Georgia - Xtreme Events LLC will host the Barbarian Challenge Extreme 5K on Saturday, September 24, 2011. The challenge begins at 8 am, and will be held at Paradise Off Road Park, 1276 Sgoda Road, in Macon, Georgia. This event is ideal for runners who are tired of the same old 5K run, Military and outdoor enthusiasts, thrill seeking athletes who aren't afraid to get down and dirty, and anyone who loves doing wacky and crazy events. Participants must be age 16 or older to take the "challenge" and attendees under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

The Barbarian Challenge is an extreme event designed to test the mental and physical toughness of both the serious athlete and weekend warrior. Attendees can expect to face natural and man made obstacles including steep climbs, swamp bogs, rope obstacles, dark tunnels and fire. "If you're tired of the same old road race or uninspiring trail run, the Barbarian Challenge is for you!" says Scott Cochran, Xtreme Events LLC President "This is the hardest race you'll ever freakin' love!" Ticket prices are $60 per person, and increase to $70 August 23rd and $75 September 10th. Advanced ticket sales end September 17th. Registrants will receive a Barbarian Tunic, Barbarian National Flag, Finishers Medal and Free Beer. The overall male and female winners will receive an authentic replica of Conan the Barbarian's sword. There are a limited number of advance tickets, so early registration in encouraged. There is no charge for spectators. All challenge participants and spectators are welcomed to dress in costume for the event.
