There’s always something going on in Macon. Nicknamed “The Festival Capitol of Georgia,” Macon hosts over 20 festivals throughout the year. Springtime brings The International Cherry Blossom Festival. Celebrating the blooming of over 300,000 Yoshino cherry trees, the 10-day Festival is filled with exciting events from the Mulberry Streets Arts & Crafts Festival, to the Street Party, to the Amusement Ride Midway, and more. In April each year, shop from more than 4,000 functional and sculptural pieces at Fired Works: Regional Ceramics and Exhibition & Sale. In the Summer, enjoy 2-days of live music at Bragg Jam, a weekend filled independent films at Macon Film Festival, and the largest Native American gathering in the Southeast at the Ocmulgee Indian Celebration. In Fall and Winter months, enjoy an array of tasty beers at Macon Octoberfest, see actors at graveside bring history to life at Spirits in October, and celebrate the holiday season at Festival of Trees.

Are you a sports fan? There are sporting events going on throughout the year in Macon too. Cheer on Macon’s hockey team and 2017 Southern Professional Hockey League President’s Cup winners, Macon Mayhem. The Georgia Doom, Macon’s arena football team, start their inaugural season in 2018 with a roster that includes past collegiate and professional players. Summertime calls for baseball and the start of Macon Bacon’s first season. Playing at the newly renovate Luther Williams Field, their games are sure to be fun and entertaining for the entire family. Macon is also home to several college and university teams like the Mercer University Bears, the Middle Georgia State Knights, and the Wesleyan College Wolves.

Downtown Macon celebrates each first Friday of the month in style with live music, entertainment, art, food and drink, and activities for the entire family. Shop local art at one of our galleries, listen to live music at one of several Soul Spots set up in front of local stores and restaurants, enjoy First Friday specials at restaurants, or see a show at one of our music venues.
